SBN Distributes Scholarships to Outstanding Students

Kola Nagaratnam, a student attending Chenchaiah Memorial Govt Jr College in Tangutur, was congratulated on Tuesday for ranking 1st among students attending Government and Aided Junior colleges in the state.Assemblyman Pothula Rama Rao MLA, the chief guest of the ceremony, advised the students to get good marks and ranks by taking Kola Nagaratnam as a role model. He said that the poor performance and lack of motivation of many students is due to lack of awareness of educational courses. He said that a grant of Rs. 5 lakh was sanctioned by the government to the college for the development of an Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) coaching center. Sri B V Ramaniah, principal of the college, presided over the meeting.Non-Resident Indian Rao Bezwada, who gives merit scholarships every year in the college, congratulated Kola Nagaratnam, expressing that he was very happy with her achievement of a state rank. He also appreciated the school’s team of Lecturers for providing a good education.

One who works hard can accomplish anything, said Dr. Bezwada. In addition to awarding meritorious students over the years, he and his wife have donated Rs.10,000/- for furniture and provided welfare programs for the poor students unable to afford lunches.

NRI awards cash prizes to the top scorers of AVC & GVR Junior College, Singarayakonda. In the programme conducted on Monday by the Principal Aruna Kumari, NRI Sri Bezawada Srinivasa Rao and his wife Mrs. Koteswaramma has given away the prizes to the students. SK. Jasmin, the topper of Sciences, SK. Farhana, the topper of Arts were given Rs. 5000/- of cash prize. NRI Srinivasa Rao suggested the students to work hard to secure ranks in District and State levels and also requested the staff to encourage and support them in this walk. Sarpanch Rama Devi has promised a borewell for the students in the College campus. Her husband Srinivasa Rao has given Rs.516/- for each topper. The Secretary of Junior College Lecturers Association P. Sudhakara Rao, Lecturers Satyanarayana, Venkateswara Reddy and K. Sankara Rao also participated in the Programme.
